the stone of freedom

The Stone of Freedom is an investigation into the monument or archaeological site of Florida Street, North Diagonal corner, in which a sector of the “cobbled primitive of Florida Street” is preserved. There were two plaques located in the place that described it with that legend. The plates also said that the paving had been found during the remodeling work of 1971.
On June 22, 2019 I made a performance in which I renamed this site as the Stone of Freedom, a memorial in homage to the stonemason prisoners of the Martín García Island, who extracted the stone from the Precambrian prison to pave for the first time the streets of the city of Buenos Aires, since 1791.
